Residence depends on ecology, rainfall, commercialization of economy, modes of production, warfare, and so on. Therefore kinship can also be influenced by external factors not just culture.
Kinship is also influenced by cognitive structures of the mind. Therefore there is some biological basis to kinship and not just culture.
